Review for: I HAD EVERY EXCUSE TO FAIL BUT I CHOSE NONE
Rate: 5 stars
The book entitled I HAD EVERY EXCUSE TO FAIL BUT I CHOSE NONE by Sebastian K. Young is a very captivating and inspirational book. This is his first novel released, and is a very motivating book. The title is an excellent title to capture the attention of young men and women who are dealing with life experiences and struggles. Author Sebastian K. Young wants people of all ages to realize that we should never allow ourselves to stop learning. Each day brings new opportunities.
I HAD EVERY EXCUSE TO FAIL BUT I CHOSE NONE is a book written by Young himself and displays some of the trials and tribulations he experienced in his life. Sebastian K. Young was born to a teenage mother and a father who wanted nothing to do with him. After losing his mother due to a brutal murder when Young was just 2 years old, his grandparents took the role to raising him. Raised by his grandparents, Young developed a very special bond with them. He was taught and learned lessons that helped him understand life and life situations clearer.
This book will take you through his school age years from being teased, childhood pranks, school fights and even deaths. In certain chapters you will feel as if you know the author and can relate to some of the things going on. I HAD EVERY EXCUSE TO FAIL BUT I CHOSE NONE is a like a emotional rollercoaster. This book will have you feeling sad one moment and laughing the next. Some of the scenes are described so well, you will feel you are right along side of him.
As the author quotes: "All of us have something in us that defines who we are. We need to use our talents to it’s' fullness." I recommend this book to people of all ages. I think this book can inspire elementary school students to older people struggling to make wiser decisions. This book can be used as a self motivational tool to success. Do we really want to settle with excuses? Do we drown in self pity or do we swim towards success? This book can help one determine their destination. Sebastian K. Young illustrates that we should use our unfortunate situations as "stepping stones" rather than "stumbling blocks". He demonstrates that our attitude can determine our altitude......... How far will you soar? Will you fly or flop...the choice is yours.
Thank you Sebastian K. Young for your passion for writing and sharing.

For Color Girls
Mr.Tyler Perry
I just got home from the movie viewing for 'For Color Girls'. As a man, I have to say thank you for this movie. God has His hands on you! This is the most powerful movie that I have seen. Black men you need to see this movie!! This movie will make you stand up or come clean with yourself!!! Our sisters have gone through enough, they deal with our issues when they have so many issues of their own to deal with everyday, without having to tip-toe around and deal with our demons Now more than ever I see how strong our African American women are to have to deal with their issues and to find the time and strength to deal with men and our issues, come on Bros, stand up and lets change!!! These things have happened only because of us "MEN" Mr. Perry Thank You!!! You are a True Blessing! What I got out of my true over view of this Great movie and as A father of three beautiful Girls I want to cover them all the more yet expose them to the reality that life brings in the form of the good and the bad is this is a challenge but a challenge I'm willing to tackle! So I need other black men to step up as the leader that God has made us to be and Lead our children in the correct path and know that we or the mentors that lead them first after birth second to God's Blessing on their life! I think you make a very compelling point in this movie Although, the characterizations of the AA black man, are for the most part negative, minus the character played by Hill Harper, it suggests that perhaps more women should give some praise to the actual black men in their lives that are striving to become the man God has called them to be. It is an unfortunate imbalance that exists, so I would encourage women to salute the black man who is making a difference and for us a black community to raise up a child in the way that he should go, thus to say raise young boys into young men who can be a shining example to others. This way the imbalance will one day be balanced and eventually, this sad and unfortunate truth will not be the perception nor the reality. Thank you Mr.Perry

YOU ARE NOT MY ENEMY
YOU ARE NOT MY ENEMY
Dear: Sir
I forgive you. Although these words are seemingly simple it has taken me several years and multiple sleepless nights to write them. Each time I would gather the strength to forgive you, incessant memories of my mothers murder played through my mind like a demented movie stuck on repeat. Why her? Why you? Why then? Why should I forgive someone for dismantling my childhood by removing a woman that only shared a few years of her life with me, her only son?
The bible says in Luke 6:37, "Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.”
We all have our faults and have done things worthy of punishment. In order for me to be forgiven for my mistakes I had to forgive you. Yet by not forgiving you I was punishing myself. I chose not to sleep and I chose to allow her death and my anger towards you to dictate my attitude and actions. Staying upset at you, a person who never knew but still damaged me was painful. I was so angry with you for choosing to hurt my family. Whether it was a random act of violence or a conscience decision, the thought of her death and my motherless childhood felt like you had killed me that same night.
However, I am reminded of Jesus and how He gave his life. He was God’s only son given for the world. My mom isn’t Jesus but I like to believe that she gave her life to save mine. There is nothing that I could do when I was younger to save her and there is nothing that I can do in my adult years to gain vengeance for her death. My mom’s death was in God’s plan before I was even born
Deuteronomy 32:35, “Vengeance is Mine.” God made this statement for people like me. My peace is that I can now forgive you and any vindication I would possibly want would come through God.
Despite the forensic files from my mom’s murder being lost in the flood that ravaged the building and the inability of the judicial system to formally convict you, we know the truth. It is that truth that has given me the freedom to move on. I have prayed for you, I have forgiven you, and although I have had every excuse to fail, I chose none.
I pray that you also discover God for yourself while you are in prison. He has given me peace and I know that He can do the same for you!
God bless,
Sebastian K. Young

Forgiving to be Forgiven
I learned how to forgive as I grew up, but I never learned how to be forgiven. Even though I could forgive people when they would treat me unfairly, I did not comprehend being forgiven. Life is about changes and the changes are so remarkable when you can receive that its not in your time but in Gods time. The most awesome part is when you learn how to receive the goodness from the one who comes in with the intent to restore and not to subtract from your worthiness YES!! you are worthy because you are Great!!! Being forgiven is just a mere step into your recovery process. Ingest the spirit of receiving its a Beautiful Thing.

Labor Pains ....without the Pushing
A woman who gives birth is a Super woman even the more. Theres nothing that could compare to that experience for anything else in life. Birth is the closes thing to death!! and being Pushed out from my mothers womb with Power and Endurance to make sure I made it determine for life within her to Give to me Priceless! Life has its turns but after the Storm there will come the Calm! I am a Living witness to that. " I Had Every Excuse To Fail, But I Chose None"

Knowing the Techniques of Survival........
Our fears and anxieties will often drive us to build impenetrable walls that act like blinders deflecting others and preventing us from seeing who surrounds us. Getting focused to the things that matter are the Key to what has to be to COMPLETE our MISSION. "I Had Every Excuse to Fail but I Chose None"

Do you know what your fragrance is? Maybe you have gotten so comfortable with your personal fragrance that you have forgotten what it smells like therefore you have gotten use to the uncomfortable smell of some one else! Never settle for just a good relationship because only the GREAT ones will last. Negative relationships stink because they are not for you!!
